I came to furniture making via a design education at the Illinois Institute of
Technology. I worked in photography for 12 years while pursuing furniture
making in my off hours. In 1992, with the end of traditional photography
processes on the horizon, I left my photography job, moved from Chicago to
Wisconsin and began resurrecting an old farm. I have been designing and
building furniture in my shop in the barn since 1993. In the years since, I have
exhibited and sold work in various Midwest art and craft shows, the St. Paul
and Baltimore ACC shows, the Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver and the
Philadelphia furniture show, to name a few. I also sell my work through gal-
leries in Asheville NC, Chicago, Madison WI, and Bethesda MD.

My ideas typically begin as very rough sketches that I translate into finished
drawings on the computer. From these drawings I print out a series of full
sized templates. This process allows me to faithfully translate all of the
proportions and curves in the drawings to a finished piece. While my designs
and the means by which I execute them are very contemporary, many of the
actual construction methods have been around for centuries. My pieces are
built using traditional mortise and tenon and dovetail joinery construction
techniques that have been time tested over hundreds of years. The result is
furniture that will last not only the lifetime of my clients, but for many
generations to come.
